Bridging the Gap: Physical Activity as a Doorway to Spiritual Awakening and Vice Versa

Once I started developing spiritually, my overall health increased dramatically. What is the reason for this you may ask? Holistic health means finding your 'Golden Zone' in all aspects of life and doing your best not to waver too far outside the zone and if you do, counter-balance. Spirituality is one area that tends to get overlooked when thinking about how we can become healthier.

If we can begin to feel and trust in our divine connection, our spiritual essence, and that the body is the vessel for carrying our spirit through life, it become clear that we must take care of and make strong our physical bodies.

On the flipside, I've noticed that many 'spiritual' people neglect optimizing their physical health in hopeless effort to 'transcend' the material realm. I've got news for you: this body IS spiritual energy! And if you are physically fit, your spiritual development can surge with greater ease, comfortability, and excitement.

If you are spiritually connected, physical activity becomes more meaningful, more purposeful, and more fun! We must become intimately connected with who we are AS A WHOLE, neglecting neither the high vibrational spiritual essence nor the denser physical body.

There's a reason ancient spiritual traditions incorporate some form of physical discipline (think yoga, martial arts, ecstatic dance, etc).

Getting connected with the body through physical activity can be a gateway to spiritual awakening. Spiritualizing our activity can lead to greater gains in strength, endurance, self-esteem, and motivation.

This is what I love doing and have been doing for over a decade. Before connecting the two, I was blessed with a strong foundation of physical wellness due to my father teaching me how to be healthy from a young age. I had to find my spiritual connection in my own time. Once I did, all of my training, all of my advancements, and much of my enjoyment accelerated beyond what I thought was possible.
